FAQ in a nutshell

The haaga 677 plus hand sweeper is ideal for carefully removing larger deposits of dirt, leaves, or sand from paving joints. Smaller particles can then be removed with a joint brush, a joint scraper, or, if necessary, a high-pressure cleaner. If the paving is overgrown (with moss or weeds), it is advisable to remove these plants before sweeping—this will keep the paving permanently clean and allow the haaga 677 plus to perform at its best.

Hand sweepers are versatile and reliably handle both fine dust and coarse dirt. Here are a few tips for best results: Wet leaves that stick strongly to the ground are more difficult to pick up – in this case, it is helpful to wait a short while until they have dried. Even with very large amounts of leaves, the waste container should be emptied regularly to maintain consistent performance. It is best to remove vegetation such as moss or weeds from pavement joints in advance to keep the area permanently clean. On uneven ground, the contact pressure of the disc brushes can be easily adjusted using the height adjustment. This makes the sweeper a practical helper in every situation.

Whether a leaf vacuum or a sweeper is better depends on the area of application. A sweeper is more versatile because it reliably removes not only leaves but also dust, sand, gravel, and coarse dirt—ideal for sidewalks, driveways, or large areas. A leaf vacuum, on the other hand, is designed specifically for leaves and primarily replaces the classic rake, but not the broom or sweeper.

A hand-held sweeper such as the haaga 677 plus works with rotating disc brushes that pick up dirt and leaves from the surface and transport them directly into the waste container. Thanks to the turbo sweeping system, even fine particles are reliably picked up: while the disc brushes transport coarse dirt, the fine dirt sweeping roller ensures that dust and small particles are not left behind. This means that the surface is thoroughly cleaned in just one pass.

For uneven surfaces, it is important that the sweeper reacts flexibly to uneven ground. The haaga 677 plus offers height adjustment of the disc brushes so that the contact pressure can be optimally adjusted. This means that even small depressions or cobblestones can be cleaned reliably. In general, manual sweepers with adjustable contact pressure are particularly well suited for uneven or structured surfaces, as they effectively pick up dirt and leaves without damaging the ground.

We essentially distinguish between two types of sweepers:
  • Manual sweepers that operate without electricity or batteries.
  • Battery-powered sweepers that are equipped with powerful batteries.
The special advantage of haaga and starmix: our battery-powered sweepers can also be operated manually at any time – which is practical when the battery is empty and the work still needs to be completed.

Both models are battery-powered sweepers, but differ in terms of features and application.
  • The haaga 677 plus comes with a lead-acid battery and charger and is ready for immediate use.
  • The starmix DuroSweep 77 Pro 18V relies on the powerful lithium-ion rechargeable battery from the manufacturer-independent CAS battery alliance – ideal for anyone who already uses CAS batteries or wants more flexibility.
  • As a professional device, the DuroSweep also offers 4 speed settings for the disc brushes and is significantly lighter, which increases working comfort.

This makes the haaga 677 plus the perfect choice for anyone looking for a ready-to-use solution, while the DuroSweep 77 Pro 18V is primarily designed for professional users with high demands on flexibility and ease of use.

The area recommendation provides guidance on the ideal size of property for a sweeper. This recommendation is based on our practical experience and is intended to make it easier for customers to choose.
The sweeping performance is calculated using a simple formula:
Sweeping width × pushing speed = sweeping performance
Since the pushing speed varies depending on the model—a battery-powered sweeper can be pushed faster than a manual one, for example—we take these differences into account in our specifications. This results in realistic values that correspond to actual operating conditions.

The sweepers from haaga & starmix are particularly easy to push because they do not use any belts. This means there is hardly any friction, which makes handling noticeably easier. Belts would also be susceptible to wear and tear and could make power transmission less reliable. In battery-powered models, the electrically driven disc brushes also take over part of the work, making the machine even more comfortable and effortless to move.

What our customers say

“The machine saves us a tremendous amount of time. Previously, two people would sweep, but now the haaga does it in a few minutes. Robust, reliable, easy to use.“
Sabine K., Landscaping

"I use the Haaga around the house. The collection containers are large enough that I don't have to empty them constantly. For me, it's the best investment for a clean yard and to save time."
Thomas B., homeowner

“We use the haaga 677 plus every day in the yard. The results are excellent—whether it's leaves, dust, or fine dirt. What's particularly practical is that it also picks up wet leaves without any problems.”
