Solidarity with Ukraine

We stand together for peace in Europe

Stuttgart/Ebersbach, 07. 03. 2022 ELECTROSTAR/starmix condemns the war of aggression on Ukraine and is committed to supporting refugees from Ukraine: The company is providing ten rooms in a hotel in Göppingen for several months to offer living space to up to 20 refugees from Ukraine.

In these dark times of war, the thoughts of the management and employees of ELECTROSTAR/starmix are with all those affected by the war in Ukraine. As a global company, Electrostar stands for cultural diversity, openness and progress.

The personal commitment of our employees is manifold: it ranges from donations to participation in solidarity demonstrations to our own initiatives, such as the collection and delivery of food and other necessities to the Ukrainian border. ELECTROSTAR/starmix supports this and also provides ten double rooms in a Göppingen hotel to help refugees with urgently needed housing.

The company's international shareholders - 25% belong to a Danish holding company, 75% to the family-run Algo Group based in Austria - also strongly condemn Russia's military invasion of Ukraine. Managing director Roman Gorovoy, a native Russian, has a strong personal connection to current events through his father, who was born in Ukraine and built up his own company as a private entrepreneur and made it big in Russia through a joint venture with the German company Knauf.

"To this day, many of my family members and friends live in both Ukraine and Russia, which makes the situation very emotional for me personally as well. I could never in my worst dreams imagine a military conflict between two countries so closely linked culturally and historically, and I wish that everything possible will be done in the coming weeks to get a dialogue for lasting peace in Europe underway as soon as possible," says Roman Gorovoy.

Managing Director Anne Mette Solvang says: "Every individual and all of us together must now do our utmost to ensure that these acts of war and their horrific consequences for the population come to an end. As a company, we want to do our part to help refugees seeking protection."

ELECTROSTAR/starmix - a piece of German industrial history that is being continued with great success in the 21st century. The industrious Swabians have been manufacturing hoovers since 1921 and invented the hot-air hand dryer four years later. In the years of the economic miracle, starmix achieved world renown: the universal starmix kitchen machine became a bestseller that no good household could do without. Today, ELECTROSTAR GmbH, which has been part of the Algo Group since 2007, stands for innovative technologies, outstanding quality and uncompromising customer orientation. Under the starmix brand, the company develops, produces and sells a wide range of powerful vacuum cleaners for trade, commerce and industry worldwide. From the starmix sanitary business field, modern warm air and high-speed hand and hair dryers as well as an extensive hospitality product range complete the portfolio. Since the acquisition of Haaga Kehrsysteme GmbH in 2012, innovative sweeping machines have also been part of the product range. In 2020, ELECTROSTAR/starmix and Haaga Kehrsysteme merged. The company employs around 200 people at its sites in Ebersbach. With the two brands starmix and Haaga, a turnover of around 41 million euros was generated in 2020.
